OCEAN HABITAT

In this project, students will imagine,
design and create an interactive
sustainable ocean habitat using
animations and stories with Scratch
Software.
Learning Outcomes:
– How to add backdrops and sprites to your animation and stories.
– How to change your sprites looks and sounds.
– How to create a conversation between sprites.

1. Recognise and explore patterns in data and represent data as pictures, symbols and diagrams (VCDTDI014)

2. Collect, explore and sort data, and use digital systems to present the data creatively (VCDTDI015)

3. Follow, describe and represent a sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve simple problems (VCDTCD017)

Coding

‘RESPONSIBLE FISHING’ GAME

In this project, students will create
an ocean habitat and fishing game
that shows how to practise
responsible fishing in order to save
small fish using Scratch Software.

Learning Outcomes:
– How to add variables.
– How to use repetitions and conditions.
– How to create clones of a sprite.

3D Design

3D JELLY FISH

In this project, students will use
Tinkercad to learn the princples
of 3D design to create their own
3D Jellyfish design.

Learning Outcomes:
– How to change the dimensions and orientations of the object.
– How to use the solid or holes function.
– How to align and group your objects together.

‘CLEANING UP THE OCEAN’ GAME

In this project, students will
create an ocean habitat,
demonstrating how we should
keep our oceans clean.
Students will use Scratch to
create a game where the player
is tasked with collecting rubbish
to save vulnerable fish.

Learning Outcomes:
– How to add variables.
– How to use repetitions and conditions.
– How to create clones of a sprite.

3D Design

3D SAILING BOAT

In this project, students will learn
how to design a 3D sailing boat
model using TinkerCad software.

Learning Outcomes:
– How to change the dimensions and orientations of the object.
– How to use the solid or holes function.
– How to align and group your objects together.

Robotics

OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE

In this project, students will create a wind turbine that harnesses the wind to power a motor and generate enough electricity to light an LED.

Learning Outcomes:
– How to make a circuit and wiring components.
– Learn about prototyping and simulation.

6. Investigate characteristics and properties of a range of materials, systems, components, tools and equipment and evaluate the impact of their use (VCDSTC037)
